A local birder has just reported seeing a Yellow-headed Blackbird at her
feeders just after noon today. She noted the bright yellow head, and
the faint white markings on the wings. She is familiar with these birds
from a visit to Montana some time back, where the birds were common. The
bird stayed at the feeders for some time until it was startled and flew
off. She has not seen it since. The general location is near "City"of
Kawartha Lakes 6 (formerly Highway 503) and Centennial Park Road,
roughly 5 km. north of the Kirkfield liftlocks.

Kirkfield is about 140 km. northeast of Toronto, on CKL (formly
provincial) 48. CKL 6 crosses 48 in the middle of town.

I hadn't reviewed the rules for posting rarities to Ontbirds when I
received this information from the viewer and offered to post it. I
haven't been able to reach her again to get permission to use her name
and phone number, etc. I'll keep trying, but meanwhile people could
contact me for updates (I haven't yet seen the bird.) The birder who
reported it is quite active locally and I would personally depend on her
identification.
