Subject: Yellow Rails at Carden Alvar

There has been a Yellow Rail calling from the Sedge Wren Marsh along Wiley
Road at Carden Alvar this week. A call has been heard from both the east
and west sides of Wiley Road and from both north and south of the bridge on
most evenings and sometimes during the day.

This morning at 10:00 a.m. there were two birds calling, both from west of
Wiley Road and about 50 meters apart. One from south of the bridge and one
from north of the bridge. The one north of the bridge was calling
persistently very close to the roadside.

Also four Sandhill Cranes flying over Cameron Ranch.

Carden Alvar is north of Kirkfield in the City of the Kawartha Lakes in what
was once called Carden twp., Victoria County.
