AMHERST I. [page 36, quad E54 & 55]
Apr. 27, Eleanor Sachs and I birded the Owl Woods. From Marshall Rd. We
heard UPLAND SANDPIPERS and saw a GREAT HORNED OWL and a HERMIT THRUSH. In
the Woods we flushed a LONG EARED OWL and saw another GREAT HORNED OWL being
harassed by CROWS. Many RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, BROWN THRASHERS and E.
TOWHEES. Near the south end of Marshall Rd. we had a RING-NECKED PHEASANT
cross the road.
On the KFN Property we were surprised to see a late, very white SNOWY OWL.
Shorebirds included 4 DUNLIN, many WILSON'S SNIPE, 1 GR. YELLOWLEGS, 7
SPOTTED SANDPIPERS and many KILLDEER.

The North Leeds Birders highlights on Apr. 30 were: E. PHOEBE, RUBY CROWNED
KINGLETS, OVENBIRD, N. WATERTHRUSH, PINE and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS,
BROAD-WINGED & RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS and a BARRED OWL..
PRINCE EDWARD POINT, [page 35, quads G52 & 53]
KFN Field Trip on Apr. 27: Despite the cold fog, nearly 20 of us were
birding by ear in the a.m.. We shared some great sightings: A SANDHILL CRANE
was heard calling and was briefly seen flying into the fog. Later farther
out the point we saw another SANDHILL CRANE again calling. At the Traverse 2
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, calling flew over, all three SCOTER species were found
in a widely dispersed flock. CLIFF SWALLOWS were seen nests around the
Lighthouse eves. BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS were heard there and were seen, by
the road at the Government Dock Around the Traverse Woods there were many
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, a WINTER WREN, BROWN CREEPERS, YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERS, a PINE WARBLER and E. TOWHEES. HAWKS were: several N. HARRIERS, 2
SHARP-SHINNED, 1 BROAD- WINGED, and 3 RED-TAILED HAWKS and AM. KESTRELS.
OTHER SIGHTINGS
Paul Mackenzie reported New for our region: LEAST FLYCATCHER 1 and
YELLOW-THROATED VIREO at the Little Cataraqui Marshlands on May 1.
A BLUE-HEADED VIREO at Belleview House Centre St., Kingston was reported by
Ethan Meleg on May 1.
At Cartwright Point [page 36, quad D56], {page 48, quad N20} May 2,
WARBLERS: 1 PALM, 5 BLACK-AND -WHITE, 1 N. PARULA, 2 BLACK-THROATED GREEN
and 1 VEERY & 1 BLUE-HEADED VIREO. On May 1: 1 BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER
and a E. SCREECH OWL calling after 6 weeks of silence.
