The male Tufted Duck was still present this morning, Friday, May 2 at 7:30am
in the bay and easily seen from the boat launch area.  Also seen in the bay
were 7 Horned Grebes and a Common Loon along with L. Scaup, Common Goldeneye
and Bufflehead.  There was also a Spotted Sandpiper along the causeway.


To reach Shirley's Bay travel west from Ottawa along Highway 417, exit at
Moodie Drive (exit #134), and go north to Carling Avenue. Turn left and
follow Carling for approximately 3 km, then turn right onto Rifle Road
[formerly Range Road]. Drive north to the parking lot and boat launch at the
end of Rifle Road.
