Report for April 24, 2003 (Thursday): Due to an overnight low that produced widespread frost, apparent migration of new arrivals was vitually non-existent. This morning's 2-mile walk failed to identify a single warbler (!), although a single bird got away unidentified. However, the arrival of warm weather this weekend should spark a significant wave of new arrivals, including warblers.
Recent sightings of note: Worm-eating Warbler (1) over the weekend at Tulip Tree Trail. Sandhill Cranes (5) flying over Marsh Trail Numbers of Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Hermit Thrush, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Chipping Sparrow, Eastern Towhee, etc. are scattered throughout the park. This morning a Blue-headed Vireo was north of the Visitor Centre. Shorebirds in the area include Dunlin, Greater Yellowlegs and Lesser Yellowlegs.
