Oshawa Second marsh 6-9am 16 Little Gulls. They have started doing their courtship displays over the marsh. 1387 Bonaparte's Gulls 13 Common Loons migrating north 18 species of waterfowl including 2 Ruddy Ducks, pair of Canvasbacks Several flocks of migrating Canada Geese passed over. Also approximately 1/2 the ducks left the marsh before 8am towards the north. 3 species of Terns (2 Forster's, 2 common, 7 Caspian) 1 American Bittern 1 Sora 1 Virginia Rail In the McLaughlin Bay Reserve along the trail between the east platform of the second marsh and the parking lot, there were 2 Eastern Towhees, 1 Northern Mockingbird, several Ruby-crowned kinglets and White-throated Sparrows.
Directions To Oshawa Second marsh/ McLaughlin reserve Directions: Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit in Oshawa. Go south to Colonel Sam Drive. Go east on Colonel Sam Drive to the parking lot at the GM. Headquarters. Park in the nw parking lot closet to the marsh. The east platform is located here. To see the Lake Ontario waterbirds proceed along the path from the parking lot south to the lakeshore.
