Hi all!
This is a bit late to post, but I had no access to a computer and did
not get home 'til late last night.
On Saturday April 12, at the Greenway Road "onion fields" just off Hwy
#21 south of Grand Bend I saw an adult Little Gull with about 6 "bonies".
As I was watching it, well over a hundred Pectoral Sandpipers flew in from
further south in this huge muddy field. I also had 5 Wilson's Snipe very
close to the roadside and 2 Greater Yellowlegs.
This area still had at least 1 Tundra Swan, large numbers of Northern
Pintail, some Green-winged Teal and other ducks - but with the wind(I was
not warmly dressed)and my passengers anxious to return to Ailsa Craig - I
did not take the time for a more thorough search.
On Sunday I drove from London down to Port Stanley and over to Port
Bruce but only got a Savannah Sparrow and 2 pairs of Bluebirds exploring the
boxes along this stretch of the road(# ?). Just the usual waterfowl were in
the Pt.Stanley lagoons.
This morning in my backyard in Oakville a White-throated Sparrow was
singing and last Friday my wife and daughter saw a Fox Sparrow here. Roll on
spring!!
Cheers!! Maris
