Hello Ontbirds
Yesterday, March 30th I birded Presqu'ile for the day. It was rather
slow in the landbird category with a few migrants including 3 Eastern
Phoebe, 4 Winter Wren and 8 Tree Swallows but water birds were
plentiful. Off Beach #1 there were 3 winter plumaged Red-throated Loons
feeding and 16 Horned Grebe. Many diving ducks were concentrated along
the edge of the ice in Prequ'ile Bay including 3500 Greater Scaup, 350
Canvasback, and 850 Redhead.

To reach Presqu'ile Provincial Park, follow the signs from Brighton.
Locations within the Park are shown on a map at the back of a tabloid
that is available at the Park gate. Access to the offshore islands is
restricted at this time of year to prevent disturbance to the colonial
nesting birds there.
