In addition to some of the usual residents (Kingfisher, Mockingbird, GB Heron, etc.) there were definite signs of Spring on this trail which currently runs from Steeles Avenue north to Langstaff, just west of Dufferin Street. As well as the other common migrants which have shown up recently, I saw the first Flicker and Phoebe. Also seen was a groundhog, which species is becoming very rare around here, and a pair of muskrats, which were quite frisky. A couple of "Woolly Bear" caterpillars crossed the trail. The two Fox Sparrows which showed up on Tuesday were today joined by a third. On Wednesday, I observed a Bluebird and a couple of Horned Larks on McGillivray Road, which is West of Highway 27 and North of Rutherford Road.
