Dear fellow birders,

Just to keep you up-to-date with Gyrfalcon in the north. Latest report of
Gyrfalcon for Sault Ste. Marie was on March 23rd. Two Gray-phase birds (one
smaller and lighter) were observed on the St. Mary's River ice near the
Sewage Treatment Facility (Queen Street). The darker and larger bird
(suspected female) was also seen on the 15th and 18th further upstream.

An adult Gyrfalcon is still in Thunder Bay as of March 23, along the
waterfront (report from Nick Escott).

Just to note,

Golden Eagle and Bald Eagle Migration has been very pronounced the last week
or so.

First substantial wave of Robins hit the north on the 23rd.

Common Grackle, Red-winged Black Bird, Northern Harrier, American Woodcock,
Killdeer and Canada Geese have finally started to appear. No Song Sparrow or
Meadowlarks yet. There is still a lot of snow in the bush but the fields
are becoming slushy and wet. Aside from open portions of the St. Mary's
River not many open water areas exist for ducks, geese and swans.
