On Monday, March 24 large flocks of Canada Geese were moving with a west
wind down the St. Lawrence, and small numbers of SNOW GEESE were mixed in
with these flocks. Currently there are 30,000 Snow Geese amassed near
Ithaca, NY and many Canada's are moving past these with some Snows joining
these migrating Canada's. The big push should come in about a week.
One RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, several RT Hawks, and numerous TVs crossed the St.
Lawrence direct into Canada during my hour of observing.
All these birds were seen from Mallorytown Landing, 17km west of Brockville.
None of these birds could be seen by naked-eye; a telescope was required
- they were high and far out, but very distinct at 60x.
