Now that the ice has largely left Bronte Harbour a pair of Red-necked Grebes has returned. This morning they were busy swimming around the ice-free area calling loudly to let us know that they are baaaaaack. One bird is in alternate plumage while the other is still in basic. Red-necked Grebes have been nesting in Bronte Harbour since 1997. Another Red-necked Grebe was seen far out in the lake.
Other birds include 36 Ruddy Ducks (a personal record high for the location), 4 Horned Grebes east of the harbour, 84 Redheads a Northern Mockingbird and an American Crow. Crows are now noteworthy here. Directions: Exit the QEW at Bronte Road (Oakville) and go to the lake. Gavin Edmondstone Oakville, Ontario "Gavin Edmondstone" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
