It is with sadness that I report that Jean Niskanen of Oakville and Dillion Cove north of Parry Sound passed away this morning. Jean was very active with many varied birding interests including Breeding Bird Surveys and the ongoing Breeding Bird Atlas project. She was a past president of the South Peel Naturalists' Club and member of many of organizations including Bird Studies Canada, Ontario Field Ornithologist, Toronto Ornithological Club, the Parry Sound Nature Club and the Osprey Protection Society.
Jean will be resting at the Ward Funeral Home 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville Thursday March 20 from 6-9 pm. The funeral will take place on Friday, March 21 at 12:30 am, at the Calvery Baptist Church 1215 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville.
