Everyone is invited to the Atlas' Open House at Bird Studies Canada's
new
headquarters, Port Rowan, on Sunday March 30. Late March is a wonderful
time for birding at Long Point, with the waterfowl migration in full
swing and some other early landbirds starting to appear. We're hoping
people will come down for the day, spend the morning in the field, then
come to the Atlas' open house, which runs from 1 to 4 pm at BSC (see
directions, below).

In the morning, we'll have one or more experts on hand to lead a birding

trip around the Long Point area. Meet at 10am at the BSC HQ parking lot.

The plan for the afternoon is as follows:
1:00 p.m. -1:40 p.m.: Presentation on Atlas results and highlights to
date, coverage needs, plans for 2003 and beyond, etc. by Mike Cadman
1:40 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.: Presentation: Atlassing the Fawn and Severn
Rivers by Paul Grant and Valerie Wyatt.
2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.: Displays and stations where you can find out
about all aspects of the atlas (including how data scanning works, atlas

maps, the web page, Bluebird, owl surveys, point counts, unassigned
squares, covering northern Ontario, and even CVX microphones) and meet
some of the people who are helping to put the atlas together, including
Regional Coordinators from across the province, committee members and
staff. Quizzes and games will add a special challenge, with prizes for
the very fortunate.

BSC's HQ is situated on the north shore of Lake Erie. From Highway 401
or Highway 3, come south on Highway 59 to the north shore of Lake Erie.
BSC's HQ is situated at 115 Front St. in Port Rowan. From Highway 59
south, turn east on Regional Rd 42 (Front St) and drive 400 metres to
the BSC HQ building on the south (right) side of the road.

Hope to see you there.

Mike
