Saturday (15 February) the RED-NECKED GREBE that has been seen on the
Otonobee River, south of the Lakefield bridge, was easily found around 5
p.m. It was resting with a group of about 15 COMMON GOLDENEYE and a lone
female BUFFLEHEAD. A MERLIN was seen about 1 km downstream from the grebe
location, which was on Road 32 (River Road), about 2 km downstream of the
bridge over the Otonobee River in Lakefield. Road 32 follows the river on
its east side, between Trent University and the bridge. Lakefield is about
10 km NNE of Peterborough.
