Feb.9/03: Yes, there are no Crossbills or Redpolls, BUT George & Karl have
ensured that you will get superb views of feeding birds from the comfort of
your car. Drive down Hall's Rd. from Victoria St. in southwest Whitby to the
first pathway entrance on the east side--the well-maintained feeder set-up
and suet feeder (hanging over the roadway) is at the roadside. Park your car
and turn off the engine and get ready for any/all of the following-- R-n
PHEASANT, Cowbirds, R-w Blackbirds, White-throated Sparrow, Tree Sp., Song
Sp., CHIPPING SP., Robins, Hairy Woodpecker, Downy Wp., Junco, Chickadee,
Goldfinch, House Finches, Wh.-breasted Nuthatches, Cardinals, Blue Jays,
Mourning Doves, Cedar Waxwings. Stroll down the path--Red and Grey
Squirrels, possibly a Coyote may accompany you; short of the platform the
following sre usually seen-- Swamp Sparrow, Song Sp. and any of the
aforementioned. If all is quiet look for any of Peregrine, Cooper's,
Sharp-shinned or N.Harrier. Several times I have seen 2 white SNOW GEESE
flying with Canadas.
