The Campbellville, Ontario NORTHERN HAWK OWL was cooperatively perched right
along Reid Road today very close to Guelph Line, providing close views. See
directions below.

A beautiful adult RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was less than five minutes from the
Hawk Owl and allowed close approach. From the corner of Reid Road and
Guelph Line, go west on Reid Road to the end and turn left. Go over the RR
tracks and make the first right turn after crossing them. Drive down this
road to where the tracks cross the road. The hawk was by the tracks on the
right side of the road. He flew west down this road some distance but
returned shortly.

DIRECTIONS TO HAWK OWL FROM US-CANADA BORDER:
The Hawk Owl is about an hour, perhaps a little more, from the border in
Niagara Falls. Take the QEW across the Burlington Bay Skyway to the exit
for Guelph Line Road (Hwy #1). Proceed north (left turn) on Guelph Line
roughly 12 miles to Highway 401 (a major highway) at Campbellville. There
is a parking lot just before you go over the 401, on your left. Just before
the parking lot, also on the left, is Reid Road. I would suggest parking in
the lot. Today, the bird was visible from the lot, looking south at the
maple(?) trees on the other side of Reid Road. There will likely be other
birders there.

Good birding!
