Hi all

A female Red-bellied Woodpecker has been coming to a feeder in Carling
Township since Jan. 2, 2003. It has just been confirmed and photographed this
morning. One of the photographs (by Ted Krug) appears on the Muskoka Bird
Board now (Jan 12/03).

Birders are welcome. Hosts are Edie and Daniel Verite at #27 East Carling Bay
Road. Best times are 8 - 10 am but phone first at (705) 342-1157. They are
home during the day.

So far the woodpecker has been leaving the suet feeder alone and comes to a
seed feeder outside the dining room window. It has been eating corn and black
oilseed. This is a new species for my published list of "Birds of Carling
Township, a Field Checklist"

DIRECTIONS: Go north on hwy #69 past Parry Sound and Nobel to
Hwy #559 (which goes to Killbear PP). Go about 3 km on hwy #559 and turn left
on East Carling Bay Road. Follow this to log house #27 on your right hand
side.
