To-day between 9.30 A.M. and !0 A.M. I saw 2 coveys of Gray Partridge.
1-LaSalette-From Delhi go north on Regional Road 37{swimming Pool Rd.]
to Regional Road 67. The birds were in the south east field behind the row
of cedars. This is just west of the Hamlet of La Salette.
2-Lynedoch-From Simcoe go west on No. 3 Highway to the Turkey Point Road
which is Regional 10-Turn south for 1 concession [Charlotteville 11
road ]-Turn west
to next road [ Yuill Road ] birds were in the north east field.
Although not common Gray Partridge can usually be found in the La salette
and
Lynedoch areas by driving the back roads and looking for fields protected by
Long cedar hedge rows. Pick a day with a few inches of snow-preferably a
fairly
Warm day. Watch the fields for what looks to be little clumps of
earth---these may be
Partridge. The birds are generally huddled to-gather-sometimes so close it
is hard
To count them.
