Hi All,
Today (January 2) at noon as I was driving along Lakeshore Rd east of the
village of Port Britain my daughter, Lindsay, said nonchalantly, "Turkey
Vulture." I jammed on the brakes, pulled over and there sailing above me
was a Turkey Vulture heading west. (I'll make a birder out of her yet!).
We were within sight of Dickenson Rd.

Exit Hwy 401 at exit 456 and head south to the Lake Ontario (on the map it
looks like you take Best's Rd jog east and then take Willow Beach Rd to
Lakeshore Rd. I actually turn south at exit 440 and take Mill Street into
Bond Head to Lakeshore and just follow that 20 km into Port Hope, better
birding) Go east on Lakeshore through the village of Port Britain and
Dickenson Rd is the first concession road east. Port Hope is about 4 km
further east.

The Greater White-fronted Geese were sitting on Cobourg Beach, at its east
end, around 1:00 p.m.. They were in the middle of several hundred Canada's.
I walked west along the beach from the foot of D'arcy Street. Take exit 474
off the 401 and go south on Division Street to King Street in Cobourg (the
main east-west street downtown) and turn east on King to D'arcy Street. Go
south to the lake. No sandpipers were present but someone was walking their
dog where I "expected" they might be.
