Science Academies’ Refresher Course on Advances in Biotechnology Science Academies’ Refresher Course on Advances in Biotechnology organized by Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi The National Academy of Sciences, India, Allahabad in collaboration with National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health (ICMR), Mumbai 1–16 March 2011 A Science Academies’ Refresher Course on ‘Advances in Biotechnology’ for graduate and postgraduate college/university teachers will be held at the National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, Mumbai for two weeks from 1 to 16 March 2011. The aim is to give the participants a hands-on training on some modern biotechnological techniques and the theory behind them. A variety of teaching methods like lectures, discussion and laboratory work will facilitate the learning process. The course will help the participants to gain and sharpen their skills on biotechnology. This training will provide them necessary knowledge to boost their confidence in handling modern instruments used in the field of life sciences and modern biotechnology. The skills gained during this course will help them effectively fulfil their role as better researchers and teachers in teaching undergraduate/postgraduate students. The course will consist of lectures everyday along with over five hours of practical/demonstration/hands-on training. Teachers who wish to participate in the Refresher Course may send their application on plain paper (2–3 pages) with following details: name, age, date of birth, sex, e-mail, official and residential addresses, telephone and mobile numbers, academic qualifications starting from B.Sc. onwards, teaching experience, courses taught, position held and a statement indicating their reasons for interest in participating in the course and their expectations from the course (in brief).
