Dear R/Bioconductor users,

Just to inform the list that we recently released a new R/Bioc package for
microbiome analysis, in particular to support the analysis of 16S OTU
tables (from small targeted to large-scale population cohorts). The
Bioconductor page: https://www.bioconductor.org/packages/devel/bioc/html/
microbiome.html

In addition to the bioinformatics tools, the package includes example data
sets. The largest example data set is a collection of taxonomic profiles of
130 genus-level groups across 1006 western adults. An online tutorial with
reproducible examples is available at http://microbiome.github.io/
microbiome/

The microbiome R package is based on the same data structures and expands
the capabilities provided by the independent phyloseq package.

Issues, pull requests, and feedback welcome.

best regards
Leo Lahti, Sudarshan Shetty, et al.
