Hi Anita, it seems that FilterRules is defined in the IRanges package. If you want to use it you will have to explicitly import it. Can't quite see how this is related to importing or not importing ShortRead. The only reason why this works when you require ShortRead is because it depends on IRanges and will automatically attach it. This does not happen when you just import from it. Florian
