We've recently experienced this same problem on two separate servers after updating them to 9.16.2
May 15 20:10:21 a named[31391]: general: name.c:1738: INSIST(nlabels == name->labels) failed May 15 20:10:21 a named[31391]: general: exiting (due to assertion failure) May 15 20:11:39 a systemd[1]: named-chroot.service: main process exited, code=killed, status=6/ABRT May 15 20:11:39 a systemd[1]: Unit named-chroot.service entered failed state. This is on CentOS 7.8.2003 in our cases. We updated to that version on April 28th across our cluster, so it wasn't immediate.
