You need: * an authoritative DNS service for the whole Internet, reachable from everywhere and serving data about *your* zones. It may be on your machines or subconstracted to a DNS hoster (often a domain name registrar). Do not forget to test it <http://www.bortzmeyer.org/tests-dns.html>. * a recursive DNS service for *your* users, reachable only from the LAN or campus and serving data about everything. For a small organisation, it is provided by the Internet Access Provider. For a medium or large one, it is often on-site. It can also be subcontracted to services like Google Public DNS. These two are necessary but are very different and I suggest to handle them separately (do not mix them in the same email to bind-users). _______________________________________________ Please visit https://lists.isc.org/mailman/listinfo/bind-users to unsubscribe from this list bind-users mailing list bind-users@lists.isc.org https://lists.isc.org/mailman/listinfo/bind-users
