I fixed it here is what i did incase anyone else has problems..
I edited the registry at this key And I added the user .\named to the logs directory under bin and added WRITE permissions, otherwise it cant write a log.. This is what I have found so far, the service now starts and all seems well.. When installing BIND I asked for it to be installed in system32 but I think the 64 bit system changed the path automatically.. So as I say the full path of the installation is here C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dns so all I need to do I think is force the Service (properties on Service, ICS BIND, path to executable) to be changed to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dns from C:\Windows\system32\dns\bin\ Any ideas? Thanks in advance Ian
