<author hat on> This version reformats the draft to do address issues raised by RTG-DIR, OPS-DIR, INT-DIR, and SEC-DIR.
The deployed technology remains the same, but we have adjusted the draft to use the BESS usage draft. draft-ietf-bess-bgp-sdwan-usage-25<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-bess-bgp-sdwan-usage/> and MEF documents (MEF[70.1] and MEF70.2]. The BGP detail in draft-ietf-bess-bgp-sdwan-usage-25 has replaced (section 5) by generalized usage descriptions. There are 3 WG drafts for the SDWAN technology. draft-ietf-rtgwg-net2cloud-problem - problem statement, draft-ietf-bess-bgp-sdwan-usage-25 - usage case with details. draft-ietf-idr-sdwan-edge-discovery-19 - specific BGP details. These three drafts focus on the Hybrid SD-Tunnel and the Hybrid SD-WAN NLRI. There is a 4th WG draft specifying Secure EVPN draft-ietf-ietf-bess-secure-evpn-02. This 4th draft specifies two different tunnel types (ESP-Transport and ESP-in-UDP transport). The 4th draft specifies the IPSec tunnel TLV (in section 10.1), which is deprecated. We share some of the same IPsec definitions. Ali Sajassi is a co-authors on draft-ietf-bess-sdwan-usage-25 - so we still working on making sure all the documents are aligned. These mechanisms include a new tunnel type and subTLVs for the BGP Tunnel-Encapsulation Attribute [RFC9012] and set of NLRI for SD-WAN underlay information. In the context of this document, BGP Route Reflector (RR) is the component of the SD-WAN Controller that receives the BGP UPDATE from SD-WAN edges and in turns propagates the information to the intended peers that are authorized to communicate via the SD-WAN overlay network.
