Hi all, I have a question about Section 3.1 "Scenario 1: Leaf or Root Site(s) per PE" of RFC 8317<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc8317#section-3.1>.
This section proposes using dedicated Root and Leaf Route Targets (RT) for the service instance in such a way that: * The MAC-VRFs in Root PEs add just the Root RT to all EVPN routes it advertises and imports EVPN routes with both Root and Leaf RT * The MAC-VRFs in Leaf PEs add just the Leaf RT to all EVPN routes it advertises and imports EVPN routes with just the Root RT. It is my understanding is that, if this scheme is followed, a MAC-VRF in a Leaf PE, upon receiving a customer Ethernet frame with the Destination MAC address that has been locally learned by another Leaf PE shall flood this frame to MAC-VRFs in all Root PEs which, in their turn, shall send it to the attached customer sites. Is this correct? If not, what have I missed? If yes, is this the acceptable behavior? Or should I file an Erratum? Please note the solution described in Section 3.2 of the same RFC does not have this problem. Regards, and lots of thanks in advance, Sasha Disclaimer This e-mail together with any attachments may contain information of Ribbon Communications Inc. and its Affiliates that is confidential and/or proprietary for the sole use of the intended recipient.
