Yeah, just like there is no malformed HTML, just angle-bracketish 
stuff that resembles HTML, no malformed Perl, just line-noisy stuff 
that resembles Perl, no misspellled English, just strings of 
characters ...

Sometimes bendnig backwards to accommodate the vendor's notion of XML 
(or some other format) is the only thing you can do.
