I would suggest that you get a copy of this book "Learning Perl" 5th Edition. ISBN: 978-0-596-52010-6 Authors: Randal L. Schwartz, Tom Phoenix & brian d foy (This is how it is printed on the front cover) This is the most current edition. It has a print date of July 2008. It is very helpful. I am using it right now.
