That's nice and dandy if you do read the thread in one go. If you
read the original message, then half a day later three separate
responses, next day a response to the third response and another
response to the original post and ... and of course in the meantime
you read tens of unrelated messages and have your own things to take
care of. In that case you do need that bit of a history, because more
likely than not, you barely remember you read something that might
have been related a day or two ago. So you'd have to scroll down to
find out what is the author of this particular email responding to.

Yes of course, but you need to do that only once per day at most, in order
to remember what's that thread about.
Actually, I know this isn't true, just because I don't have a great memory
at all, but just after I read the subject of a message I remember what is
that thread about.
But as you told, the majority care only about the majority, and doesn't care
about those who can't be a part of the majority.
However in this case, all the guys that think like that should never talk
about etiquette/netiquette, because the reason of using their own style is
that it is harder to change that style, and not because this is the best for
everyone.
While the sighted can make an effort to change their style, the blind users
can't do anything to see, and follow that style.
I understand that the sighted have no reasons to change their way just to be
nice and help the others. Everyone like to help just until a certain point
where they still feel well and don't need to make unpleasant changes.
