Yes, I hope they do buy their books. :-) Sorry, that wasn't what I
meant. At least in Japan, videos at rental stores are sold to video
stores for 3+ times their normal price and have a "for rental only; not
for private sale" written on them. i.e., because it is for rent, the
video store paid *more* for each one for the "permission" to lend it to
people. With that kind of rule, I suppose some honest customer could
turn a store in if they had a video for rent which was intended for
private sale.
Anyway, what I meant was whether libraries pay more for books because of
this. In any case, they do pay something and it is legal; so the OP
might want to consider libraries...
