Or are you talking about paying jobs using Perl?  Some people like web
stuff.  Others don't.  Perl is very versatile, so there is lots of
choice.  Personally, I use Perl to keep a key application in a large
bank running smoothly.  That's quite a good job.  I suspect that most
people who use Perl in their job don't have Perl development as the main
part of their job.

Or perhaps you're talking about development of perl itself.  The best
job there is whatever you like doing.  Some people like developing the
perl core.  Some people have favourite parts of the core they work on.
Others like working on perl 6, parrot or pugs.  Some people work on CPAN
modules, either by themselves or as a part of a group.  Some people look
after infrastructure.  Others help with perl monger groups.  Some people
write documentation, report bugs, write tests, manage projects, organise
conferences, answer questions, tutor students, write tools, provide
funding, write articles, or just mail people and say thanks.

(Lots of people do lots of other things too.)
