Thanks. I was vaguely aware of modules that would do this. Doing it "by hand" at first is a good learning exercise for me.
I can indeed check to see if the thing I'm looking at is a directory. But why does it do this? Can you help me understand why when I think I am "in" one directory, my script reads files one level up?
