I've been attempting to learn perl for about a month so far. I've
taken the 4th Edition of Learning Perl and I work through a chapter
every few days. I just found an online resource at perl.org called
Beginning Perl. I've used a few chapters out of this book; it's
interesting to see the differences in the two books. It seems like
the Beginning Perl book might be a little more practical - on the
surface. The Learning Perl book seems a little more academic. I'm
wondering which of these two resources (or both) will serve me best
in the longer term. Should I prioritize going through Beginning Perl
first? Or, stick with the O'Reilly stuff? (I have always liked the
O'Reilly resources, coming from Oracle, SQL (not SQL Server but
structured query language) and pl/sql).
Any opinions or thoughts?
