array of hashes of arrays...

How can I do this correctly?

foreach my $col (@columns) {
              my %{$col} = (   # <-- I have a problem here, I want  
the hash to be named whatever "$col" is
                        string => "$col",
                        number => [EMAIL PROTECTED]
                        );
              push (@graph, \%{$col});
}
