IMAP is a protocol for accessing email. There are a variety of programs
that implement this protocol, including Cyrus and UW-IMAP.

perl is a program that implements the Perl language. The language has
several library modules for interacting with mail servers via IMAP, but
perl itself is never, as far as I know, compiled with an IMAP server.

Maybe it would be clearer if you explain what, precisely, you're doing,
what precisely you've tried so far, and what you're having problems
with. Can you clarify, please?
