very close indeed the only difference is I don't want the user to wait at all, just submit the form, they see the confirmation and close their browser and the fork() finished in its own sweet time on the server.
I think the best thing might be to put the goods in a file and have another script process the file via cron evry so often, I just didn't want to have to involve 2 scripts to keep track of :)
