I'm rather unsure about my humanity.
Anyway, yes, saying "thanks" is good maners. Shouting "thanks" accros 
a big room full of people is not so cool though. Even if all the 
people came to help each other. 

I'd say ... if you do have some comments to the solution/advice by 
all means do send them to the list, if all you want is to say "thank 
you" send it directly to the person :-)
