Is it neseccary to authenticate the smtp host?
It depends on the host. ;-)
testing the first sample script i saw no results.
Where is the problem?
We'll need more information than that... I assume you were trying to mail to an address you can check, from an address you can check? If it got through, there is no notification, and many errors would result in a bounce.
Otherwise, if we could see the code you tried we could help.
