I had to do something similar, and rather than mess with the cookie jar,
I did this:
$r->header('Host' => 'www.hzcu.org',
'Keep-Alive' => '300',
'Connection' => 'keep-alive',
'Referer' => 'https://www.hzcu.org/onlineserv/HB/Signon.cgi',
'Cookie' => 'signonValid=TRUE; path=/');
$r is an HTTP::Request object.
