[snip] If you are going to authenticate remote to local, that would mean every email server trying to send mail to your server would have to authenticate. I don't know about your mail server, but mine would have no way of authenticating the 10K+ remote servers a day that send emails to me or others on that server... The idea is to prevent relaying. If the remote is sending to your local, your server will not relay it to another.
