You are misreading this then. I have no problem with the list. I get
messages immediately as well.
We where talking about the performance of the nntp servers and
viewing/sending via nntp not POP/SMTP.

Aw Cmon is right!

You must have a problem in your email path between you and perl.org
somewhere. I get my copy back within the time it takes me to refresh my
mail index! Always have!
