More accurate to say that they are difficult to get [or possibly inaccesible] through PPM. PPM uses modules already packaged for the target OS. Perl still has the CPAN shell utility for accessing modules from or through the CPAN site. One caveat on using the CPAN shell: On the first run, the shell will offer manual configuration, with a default of "Yes". Just say "No". Manual configuaration is for those who have specialized needs for their Perl configuration. Much better to let the CPAN shell figure out for itself what local facilities are needed for its proper functioning.
