Jenda,

The Windows 2000 ResKit contains the script, Filedacls.pl. Below is an
partial extract of the scripts documentation.

HTM, Craig

Filedacls.pl: File DACLs Management Script

This script tool displays and changes the discretionary access control
lists (DACLs) of files and folders on local and remote computers running
Windows 2000 Professional or Server.

You can use this tool to do the following DACL management tasks:

* Create access control entries in DACLs of files and folder.
* Change the DACLs of files and folders.
* Copy explicit access control entries from a file or folder DACL and
write
them to the DACL of other files and folders.
* Remove access control entries from DACLs.
* Clear (delete) all explicit access control entries from a DACL.
* Query the DACL or particular access control entries in the DACL of a
file or folder.

Subject: NTFS permissions cleanup

Does anyone have a script that would scan through the filesystem,
review the permissions and report/remove the superfluous ones. I mean
if I set Full Control to users A and B and groups D and C, it's quite
possible that one of the users belongs to one of the groups or that
one of the groups contains a subset of users of the other etc...

Did anyone ever wrote (and could share) such a script or saw a tool
that could do this?

I mean I don't care about this so much so I will probably not write
the whole thing myself and just forget it, but ...

Thanks, Jenda
