Subject: substituting char in other languages besides english

In my program I have a place where people can put descriptions with images.

And I'm wondering about special characters in other languages. What should
I
allow for the description field. And my keyboard doesn't have the
exclamation
over the letter and the ~ over the n thing. How do I allow for these other
types of characters?

       s/[^\w\s\?\!\.\,\$\%\-\(\)]//g;

 If someone has these maybe they could paste them in their reply and I could

copy them. I guess I should get an international keyboard for my birthday!
