No they are not C stringz. our ${"one\0two"} = 10; print ${"one\0two"},"\n"; They are Perl strings so they can contain any character you like. But of course if you do use certain characters you'll have to quote the variablename. Anyway ... I don't think there is any limit (you could reach).
