Hmmm, somebody else recently had this exact same issue. If you are needing the user to, say, enter '10' in field one and '20' in field two then see '30' instantly displayed on the page without submitting the information then you need to use javascript or something else. Perl processes info that is sent to the script and gives the user back output, in this case html. So what you need to do is write a static html page that does what you want and make sure that your script outputs the code correctly.
