Installation Problem

I'm having problems installing Perl 5.8 in a server with Solaris 8 (Developers Installation), because when I want to install Berkley DB I keep getting an error message that there's a file missing (libdb.a), I don't know what I'm doing wrong or what is missing. Any help will be appreciated.
