I assume you mean:

"there is no way to do it without having the Oracle client installed
on my linux?"

That is correct - you need the Oracle client libraries installed so
that the DBD::Oracle drivers can talk to the Oracle server via the
SQL*Net network protocol.

The only other way of doing this would be to use DBD::Proxy, but I
have never done that. That would a question that would be more
appropriate for the dbi mailing list.
